The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced
The third episode finished on a dramatic pause and introduced the initial group of adventurers who will branch out from the primary party to begin their own adventure, apart from the other two tables.
This warrior group includes Teor (portrayed by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
With a large ensemble, it was evident from the beginning that having everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
This explains, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, connecting the personal journeys before splitting into three distinct groups: Warriors, Planners, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
As described by the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for players who are drawn to a typically action-packed fight-heavy narrative style where diplomatic options are rare.
Upon first impression, characters like the reluctant priest the cleric might look mismatched, but the events of episode 3 make it clear why these five characters are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the party has a clear idea where to head next after a violent initial meeting with the antagonists.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose death kicked off the narrative’s action—exploited the foes for his personal gain, entering the hidden lair, assaulting Thimble, and swiping all the powerful objects to auction.
The antagonist then cleared his liabilities and ran away to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, north of Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Moreover, each character has a individual motive to depart Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as the close ally and best friend, desires retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure has experience in the northern area and warns that it is a nasty place.
- The warrior and Wicander, having defied his house’s orders to kill the fighter and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their status as important members in the powerful family could assist the team enter areas they usually can’t.
- Moreover, The fighter pledged a life debt to The savior for his deliverance and will now go with him anywhere.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are hunted by the powers that rule the city for a multiple motives, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and The cleric defied the influential house and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- The target is targeted for elimination by the clan.
This leaves them few options but to journey toward the northern region in pursuit of the traitor.
